PUC Considering Default Service Auction Changes To "Significantly Reduce Prices"
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio said that it is, "investigating whether
directing the EDUs [electric distribution utilities] to implement certain SSO [standard service offer] auction modifications would help
significantly reduce prices resulting from SSO auctions."
PUCO cited recent SSO auction price spikes as prompting its investigation
PUCO said that such modifications include
requiring EDUs to implement the following:
a. Include six-month products in the mix of products for each auction; and
b. Revise credit requirements for companies seeking to bid at the auctions in
order to promote participation without unduly increasing risk.
"The Commissions seeks stakeholder input regarding the effectiveness of the
proposed modifications," and a comment period was established
PUCO issued the request in Case 16-776-EL-UNC, 17-957-EL-UNC, 17-2391-EL-UNC, and 18-6000-EL-UNC
