Reliant Launches New Texas Plan Offering Free Electricity On Two Days Per Week With Highest Usage; Also $75 In Bill Credits (12 Month Plan)
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Reliant in Texas launched a new plan for residential customers called Flextra Credits that includes free electricity (no energy charge and no usage-based TDU charge) on a customer's two highest-usage days each week, up to eight free days per monthly billing period, and $75 in bill credits during the 12-month term
The plan automatically applies the free electricity days to those two days during the week which had the most usage, which Reliant says means that customers don’t have to worry about scheduling their usage to take advantage of the free electricity.
The monthly bill will reflect the customer's highest 2 days of usage per full week (Sunday through Saturday), up to 8 days per monthly billing period, at no charge for every billing period of 28 days or more. A week is defined as Sunday to Saturday, and a day is defined as a 24-hour period beginning at midnight through 11:59 p.m.
The Flextra Credits plan also provides to customers 3 bill credits, $25 each, each of which must be utilized in a separate billing period during the 12-month term. Aside from this separate billing period provision, customers control when to apply each credit
The plan is also 100% solar, using Texas and national solar renewable energy certificates
In the Oncor service area, Reliant's Flextra Credits 12 plan is a 12-month fixed rate plan with an average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh, of 17.1¢ per kWh. This reflects the following:
Base Charge: $0.00 per month
Oncor Electric Delivery Monthly Charges: $3.42 per month
Oncor Electric Delivery Delivery Charges: 4.4076¢ per kWh
Energy Charge: 20.2672¢ per kWh
Free Days Energy Charge: $0.00 per kWh
Oncor Electric Delivery Free Days Delivery Charges: $0.00 per kWh
The average price calculation is based on a usage profile over 12 months, with 32% of consumption occurring
during the 2 highest usage days per week (Sunday through Saturday), up to a total of 8 days per billing
period.
A $150 early termination fee applies
Reliant touted its app for the product, and said that, "When customers want to manage their energy, monitor their usage, or pay their bill, they can easily track free days, redeem bill credits, and check out innovative insights like their solar impact – all through the Truly Free Tracker in the Reliant app."
