The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

FirstEnergy Corp., "is encouraging customers of its Ohio electric companies – Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison – to evaluate electric supply offers from competitive suppliers that fit their budget and protect against rising energy prices this summer," given the doubling of the prices to compare at the FirstEnergy Ohio EDCs on June 1

New amounts for just Rider GEN amounts had been previously reported here

The FirstEnergy EDCs have now posted prices to compare that include all bypassable rate components

Effective June 1, and subject to approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), the residential prices to compare for each of the FirstEnergy Ohio electric utilities will be as follows (note, FirstEnergy has rounded PTCs to the nearest hundredth of a cent):

Residential (RS) PTCs, June 1, 2023

Ohio Edison: 12.39 cents/kwh

Illuminating Co.: 12.40 cents/kwh

Toledo Edison: 12.41 cents/kwh

The June 1 PTCs will be in effect until the typical July 1 update in riders AER, NDU, and GCR. The June 1 Rider GEN rates are fixed through August 31. Winter Rider GEN rates, already set and filed, begin September 1.

For comparison, current PTCs are

Residential (RS) PTCs, Current

Ohio Edison: $0.058766/kWh

Illuminating Co.: $0.059039/kWh

Toledo Edison: $0.059383/kWh

"With energy rates elevated as we head into the hot, summer months, now is a great time to review your options so that you can select a rate or program that works best for you and your family," said Mark Jones, vice president of customer engagement for FirstEnergy. "By selecting a competitive energy supplier that offers a rate lower than the price to compare on your bill, you may be able to pay less each month."

"As customers evaluate their 'price to compare' against alternative supplier offers, they should consider the price, plan structure (fixed or variable rate), contract terms and conditions, and any taxes, charges or fees that may apply," FirstEnergy said
