Nstar (Eversource Energy) has filed basic service electric rates with the Massachusetts DPU for its Eastern MA service area for the period beginning July 1, 2023

All rates in this story include the Basic Service Adders and Renewable Portfolio Standard, Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard, Clean Energy Standard, and Clean Peak Standard Adders

For Nstar East residential customers, the fixed July 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023 basic service rate as filed is 16.078¢/kWh, which is 38% lower than the current rate of 25.776¢/kWh

As of publication time, there are multiple competitive retail suppliers offering rates on EnergySwitchMA that are still 25% lower than the new residential basic service rate, with such products not for an ultra-long term length, and which have no cancellation fee. Even more suppliers are offering a rate at least 1 cent per kWh below the new price to compare, which is a savings of over 6%. Nstar's new basic service rates for the East were published mid-day today

For Nstar small C&I customers, the fixed July 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023 basic service rate as filed is 15.899¢/kWh, which is 39% lower than the current rate of 26.176¢/kWh
