Direct Energy Releases New Solar Unlimited Plan for Texans with Solar Panels

Direct Energy in Texas launched a new residential electricity plan that provides unlimited monthly bill credits for solar power exported to the grid, called the Direct Solar Unlimited electricity plan

In the Oncor service area, the Direct Solar Unlimited 12 plan is a 100% renewable, 12-month fixed rate with an average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh, of 17.1¢ per kWh, which reflects a Base Charge of $9.95 per billing cycle, an Energy Charge of 10.6¢ per kWh, and Oncor Electric Delivery Delivery Charges of $4.23 per billing cycle and 5.0339¢ per kWh

The plan, in the Oncor area, has a Solar Grid Credit of 5.6¢ per kWh which will be multiplied by the out-flow kWh quantity of excess energy reported by the TDSP over the applicable monthly billing cycle.

The plan includes a $150 early termination fee

Direct Energy said, "The Direct Solar Unlimited electricity plan is for solar panel owners and includes a locked-in fixed energy rate for the length of the contract term. Additionally, customers on this plan are eligible to receive unlimited monthly bill credits at an attractive rate for extra energy generated by the customer’s solar system that the household does not consume."

The plan is for qualifying solar energy system with a rated capacity of less than 50 kW
