CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (CenterPoint Houston) informed the Texas PUC that it has reached an agreement with retail electric providers concerning the effective date of any distribution rates that are to be proposed in a 2024 rate case

CenterPoint Houston said that, "CenterPoint Houston and the Texas Energy Association for Marketers and Alliance for Retail Markets have reached an agreement that will allow for the provision of notice to retail electric providers (REPs) at least 45 days before the effective date of the rates approved by the Commission in the next rate case."

"Specifically, CenterPoint Houston agrees to propose that the rates finally approved by the Commission will take effect no earlier than the 46th day after the date of the final Commission order approving the rates. CenterPoint will provide notice of the approved rates to REPs no later than the first working day after the date of the final Commission order approving the rates. All other parties who were signatories to the settlement in Docket No. 49421 are unopposed to this agreement," CenterPoint Houston said

CenterPoint Houston made note of this agreement in seeking a brief extension of the deadline to file its next rate case

Under the standard filing schedule, CenterPoint Houston must file a rate case no later than March 9, 2024

However, CenterPoint Houston sought an extension of the filing requirement, asking that the PUC direct the TDU to, "file as soon as practical after 2023 calendar year data is available," but no later than June 30, 2024. This extension would allow CenterPoint Houston to use the 2023 calendar year as its test year and thereby simplify the preparation and review of the filing as compared with a split-year test year, CenterPoint Houston said

CenterPoint Houston said that it has consulted with the parties who were signatories to its most recent rate case settlement, all of whom either support or do not oppose the request.
