Base Power, Inc., the previously reported (story here) start-up whose management includes Zach Dell, has made apparent moves to start a Texas retail electric provider

Specifically, Base Power, Inc. serves as the governing person of two newly registered LLCs -- Base Texas REP, LLC and Base Texas QSE, LLC

As previously reported, Base Power, Inc. itself previously registered as a Texas broker, but a website for "Base Power Company" indicates that Base will act as a REP, offering a 40 kWh home battery for $1,500 at enrollment (described further below)

Base Texas REP, LLC has filed a confidential emergency operations plan with the Texas PUC. Various entities, including retail electric providers and generators, must file such emergency operations plans. Brokers are not required to file such plans

A website for Base Texas REP, LLC teases "A Modern Power Company" as "Coming Soon"

Base Texas REP, LLC has filed with the Texas Secretary of State the following assumed names: Base Power, Base, and Base Power Company

A separate website for "Base Power Company", with the same logo as Base Texas REP, LLC, is said to be accepting preorders for the following offer: "Switch to Base to power your home with a backup battery for $15,000 $1,500."

"40 kWh of battery lasts up to 24 hours on most homes, which covers the majority of outages," the Base Power Company site states

"Base offers a new way to power your home as the only energy provider that includes backup power. Only pay $1,500 for installation," the Base Power Company site states

"Our batteries work together to keep you and your community powered. The more Texans that join Base, the more reliable the grid becomes," the Base Power Company site states

"Beta is available for preorder in select regions of Texas where homeowners can choose their energy provider, with installations starting in early 2024," the Base Power Company site states

"When your order is ready, we’ll reach out so you can switch to Base as your retail electricity provider. We’ll take care of your cancellation fee," the Base Power Company site states

In an FAQ concerning the low upfront cost of the battery, the Base Power Company site states, "Base is developing a battery network to enhance the power grid's stability by discharging, or selling, at times of peak need. By installing a battery at your home, you contribute to this network, and in return, we offer backup power without high upfront costs."

"We're a modern power company laying the foundation for the energy transition with a connected network of batteries," the Base Power Company site states

As previously reported, publicly accessible source code in a prior version of Base Power, Inc.'s website had stated, "Base is a Modern Power Company building a connected network of batteries to scale existing grid infrastructure," and had emphasized, "deploying significant amounts of connected and intelligent battery storage capacity across the grid."
