Direct Energy Services, LLC has been named the electricity supplier of the City of Boston’s (MA) opt-out municipal aggregation program, serving more than 200,000 households and businesses

Direct Energy now provides renewable electricity to more than 24 municipalities and 400,000 customers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Boston municipal aggregation includes a standard default product that is priced at $0.14805 per kWh, fixed through Dec, 2025 and includes an additional 15% MA Class I RECs above the required RPS

Direct said that this default product, "delivers 62.5% more Massachusetts Class I renewable power to consumers than the utility product and the Massachusetts Renewable Portfolio Standard."

A 100% Massachusetts Class I renewable option is priced at $0.17195 per kWh, which Direct said is below Eversource’s electric rate.

An optional "basic" plan, meeting the required RPS, is priced at $0.14205 per kWh
