Constellation Energy Offering Residential Electric Service in Illinois, D.C.

Email This Story
February 22, 2011

Constellation Energy has begun offering residential electric service at Commonwealth Edison in Illinois.

Consistent with a timeline which was exclusively reported in Matters (1/18), Constellation has begun offering at Commonwealth Edison a 12-month fixed rate of 7.8¢/kWh and a 24-month fixed rate of 7.5¢/kWh for residential electric supply.

Each product includes an early termination fee of $150; however, each product also provides that the customer has a 90-day period after entering the contract during which time the customer may cancel the agreement without penalty.

Constellation Energy is not currently offering residential service at Ameren.

Constellation Energy has also expanded its residential electric offerings to the Pepco area in the District of Columbia. The D.C. service is offered by Constellation NewEnergy as Constellation Energy, and not BGE Home (Constellation Electric) which provides Constellation's residential service in Maryland.

Constellation is currently offering Pepco-DC customers a 12-month fixed rate of 10.7¢/kWh and a 24-month fixed rate of 10.2¢/kWh.

Each D.C. product also includes a $150 early termination fee. D.C. service may still be in a pilot stage, as while it is was available on the front of Constellation Energy's website this morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. Feb. 22, it was no longer an option as of 12 noon, though D.C. is still listed elsewhere as an area served, and the .PDF terms of service with pricing are still available via a direct link.
