Allegheny Power Files Updated POR Discount Rates in Maryland

April 19, 2011
Email This Story

Allegheny Power has filed updated Purchase of Receivables discount rates in Maryland, to be effective for 12 months, effective June 1, 2011.

The updated rates are as follows:
Residential: 0.5468%
Type I: 1.0646%
Type II: 0.2560%
Hourly: 0.0601%

These replace the previously filed updated rates filed in December, which had not yet taken effect (12/13). For all customer classes except Type II, the revised rates reflect a higher discount rate.

For comparison, the updated rates filed in December were:
Residential: 0.4920%
Type I: 0.7953%
Type II: 0.2779%
Hourly: 0.0183%

The current discount rates through May 31, 2011 are:
Residential: 1.1306%
Type I: 0.1090%
Type II: 0.0372%
Hourly: 0.0127%

The discount rates reflect a class-specific programming charge, and a class-specific uncollectibles charge. The higher non-residential discount rates (versus the current rates) largely reflect undercollection of those classes' allocated share of programming costs.

Calculations may be found in Maillog Number 130600.
