Ambit Energy will continue its New York expansion in July, entering two additional territories, CEO Jere Thompson, Jr. and Chief Marketing Officer Chris Chambless told Matters.

Specifically, Ambit will begin offering mass market electric and natural gas supply at Orange & Rockland and Central Hudson Gas & Electric in July.

The additional New York territories, along with entry into ComEd later this month, are among the seven additional markets to which Ambit will expand over the rest of the year. Ambit currently serves New York customers at Consolidated Edison, Niagara Mohawk, KeySpan New York, KeySpan Long Island, NYSEG, and Rochester Gas & Electric.

Chambless also confirmed Ambit's June 23 entry date for mass market service at ComEd (6/10). Chambless said that Ambit will offer ComEd customers a fixed, variable, and renewable option. While final pricing won't be set until launch, Ambit anticipates that the fixed product will offer 12.5% savings versus ComEd, and that the variable plan will offer 5% savings.

Ambit already has an Illinois network marketing infrastructure in place from its Nicor Gas offerings, and Chambless said that 35%-40% of Ambit's customer base at Nicor Gas are also ComEd electric customers.

Ambit recently announced surpassing 500,000 active enrollments, and Chambless expects to reach 600,000 in the next few months.

Ambit also offers service in ERCOT, PECO, PPL, and Baltimore Gas & Electric.
