Viridian Energy will begin offering electricity to mass market customers at Commonwealth Edison on August 1.

An anticipated August launch was previously reported by Matters (4/29). Viridian received its alternative retail electric supplier license, limited to ComEd at this time, last month.

Viridian also entered five new electric markets in New York during the first week of June; namely, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, Niagara Mohawk, NYSEG, Rochester Gas & Electric, and Orange & Rockland. Matters had previously reported Viridian would expand in New York by the "early summer" (4/29).

In each service area, Viridian is offering two monthly variable plans: a 20% renewable product and a 100% renewable product.

Current residential pricing is as follows. The 20% green rates reflect an introductory discount of 10%.
