First Choice Power Accepting Prepayments Via Smart Phone

First Choice Power has launched a new payment option for its prepaid energy customers allowing customers to pay by smart phone through the company's new First Choice QuickPay service and mobile site. First Choice Power said that it is the only energy provider to offer a smart phone payment option for prepaid customers. In addition to making payments, the mobile site allows customers to view their account balance, last payment date, and estimated days of service left via their iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry.


Reliant Energy to be Promoted at FedExField

NRG Energy's recent agreement with FedExField will provide opportunities to promote its various subsidiaries, including Reliant Energy, which is now the official energy provider to FedExField as first noted yesterday (7/13). Although branding in the stadium will be NRG, the agreement provides opportunities to promote the individual lines of business across the NRG family of companies. Reliant confirmed that it plans to work with the Redskins on promotions that will, "create awareness for the services that NRG and its subsidiary companies offer to large commercial and industrial customers, small and medium-sized businesses, and residential customers in the region."


GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA to Supply Philadelphia Phillies

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA has entered into a two-year agreement to provide electricity to the Philadelphia Phillies. The agreement also includes a marketing component that will enable GDF SUEZ Energy Resources to leverage its relationship with the Phillies and further strengthen its connections to the community. GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA serves over 73,000 accounts with an estimated peak load totaling nearly 10,000 MW.


Pa. PUC to Consider Delaying Referral Program at Met-Ed/Penelec

The Pennsylvania PUC is scheduled to consider today an order which would suspend the customer choice referral/education programs at Met-Ed and Penelec pending the competition of the PUC's statewide investigation into Pennsylvania's retail electric markets, including issues relating to default service (See 4/1 story for background).

PUCT Considering RFP for Entergy RTO and System Agreement Cost/Benefit Analysis

The PUCT has issued a docket number for a request for proposals for consulting services related to evaluating the costs and benefits of Entergy Texas joining a regional transmission organization and amending the Entergy system agreement.
