Printing Industries of Michigan Selects Constellation as Endorsed Supplier

The Printing Industries of Michigan (PIM) has signed a three-year agreement selecting Constellation Energy as its endorsed energy supplier. Constellation Energy will supply products and services including electricity and natural gas to member companies of PIM, a nonprofit trade association serving more than 150 commercial printing and graphic communications companies in Michigan.


SCANA Corporation Calls Sale Rumors False

SCANA Corporation this morning said an "internet-based rumor" claiming that SCANA is considering a sale of the company is "false." SCANA Corporation is the parent of retail gas marketer SCANA Energy.


Pepco Seeks Delay in Consideration of MAPP Line

Pepco Holdings, Inc. notified the Maryland Public Service Commission and Virginia State Corporation Commission that the company is requesting temporary delays in the Commissions' reviews of the respective applications filed by its subsidiaries, Pepco and Delmarva Power, for state regulatory approval for the Mid-Atlantic Power Pathway (MAPP) transmission line, after PJM adjusted the in-service date needed for MAPP from 2015 to the 2019-2021 timeframe. Uncertainty regarding several transmission lines, including the MAPP line, was one of the justifications cited by the Maryland PSC for its ongoing consideration of ratepayer-backed procurement of long-term generation supplies (Cases 9117, 9149, & 9214).


N.Y. PSC Votes to Adopt Smart Grid Policy Statement

The New York PSC yesterday approved a policy statement to establish regulatory policies and set forth guidelines for utilities to follow regarding the development of smart electric grid systems and associated efforts to modernize the electric grid. The policy statement was not published as of press time. A news release said that the policy statement requires that, "[u]tilities and third-party providers must protect customer privacy when projects involve the collection and use of customer data." The news release did not cite any other provisions of interest to the retail market, such as access to customer data. The policy statement will be filed in Case 10-E-0285


Calif. PUC Adopts Process for Renewable Auction Mechanism

The California PUC yesterday approved the program details to implement the Renewable Auction Mechanism (RAM), which requires the three large utilities to procure up to 1,000 MW of distributed generation, up to 20 MW in size (12/17). The PUC ordered two auctions to be held annually.
