Independence Energy Group LLC has applied for a Pennsylvania electric supplier license to serve residential and commercial customers in all service areas.

Independence Energy Group is a subsidiary of Energy Plus Holdings, LLC which is focused on acquiring customers through a network marketing model. Energy Plus Holdings is currently in the process of being acquired by NRG Energy.

As previously reported (8/22), Independence Energy Group offers electric service in New Jersey (all areas) and Illinois (ComEd).

In its Pennsylvania application, Independence Energy said that it is in the process of becoming a registered New York ISO customer, "and expects to be active in the New York market by October of 2011." Independence Energy is already a licensed electric ESCO in New York.
