A year after the introduction of switch holds to the ERCOT market, the number of switch holds applicable to residential customers in ERCOT as part of entering into a deferred payment plan remain less than 1% of residential ESI IDs in ERCOT.

A monthly snapshot of the current number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold from June 2011 through May 2012 is available here.

With the exception of three months at AEP Texas Central (during which time the switch hold rate was 1.0%), and the two months recently reported by Sharyland (1.1% each month), the switch hold rate has been under 1% in each and every month during the past year in each specific TDU area.

Switch holds did increase marginally as of May 31, compared to April 30, in three territories.

At May 31, Oncor had 15,969 residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold, about 300 higher than the total as of April 30.

At May 31, CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric had 12,646 residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold, 140 higher than the total as of April 30.

At May 31, AEP Texas Central had 4,813 residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold, about 20 higher than the total as of April 30.

AEP Texas North and Texas-New Mexico Power saw marginal declines in the number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold as of May 31, versus the April 30 total.
