TXU Energy has begun offering to residential customers in Texas a Free Weekends electricity plan.
TXU's Free Weekends plan is a 24-month index product available to customers with a provisioned advanced meter.
The product includes an energy charge (which includes all TDU charges) and a monthly base charge of $9.95. For each applicable time period (weekday, weekends), the energy charge is fixed for the term of the product, except for changes in TDU fees, ERCOT fees, etc.
The product applies a 0¢/kWh energy charge between 12 a.m. Saturday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday every week for 24 full months. The monthly base charge, state and local taxes and other billed charges (e.g. non-recurring charges) apply normally to all hours of usage.
At Oncor, the TXU Energy Free Weekends 24 plan has an average all-in rate of 14.4¢/kWh, at 1,000 kWh usage. The energy charge applicable on weekdays is 19.1¢/kWh. The monthly charge is $9.95.
At CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, the TXU Energy Free Weekends 24 plan has an average all-in rate of 14.9¢/kWh, at 1,000 kWh usage. The energy charge applicable on weekdays is 19.7¢/kWh. The monthly charge is $9.95.
An early termination fee of $295 applies.
The product is also available at AEP Texas Central, AEP Texas North, and Texas-New Mexico Power.
