Emission Information Said to be Engaged by NRG for Mobile App for Retail Customers
Emission Information (EI) said that it has been engaged by NRG Residential Solutions to develop a mobile app called the NRG Clean Power Advisor that delivers local, hourly emission intensity comparisons from electricity use.
The forthcoming development of NRG Residential's Clean Power Advisor app had been previously reported by Matters in September
Emission Information said that the smartphone app, available to iPhone users, will be piloted to select NRG Residential Solutions customers in the Philadelphia area, and can serve as a daily engagement and awareness platform to examine the impact that individual electricity use choices have on the environment.
NRG had previously said that the app "will help customers decide when to run their electric appliances to lower their carbon footprint."
Emission Information said that using data provided by its strategic partner, Genscape, Emission Information has developed proprietary algorithms, software models, and mobile and web apps that provide hourly forecasts of emissions intensity from electricity use for millions of electricity consumers by zip code.
