Spark Energy to Acquire Another Book of Customers

Spark Energy is acquiring another book of customers, this time from Town Square Energy, LLC.

Town Square Energy informed the Connecticut PURA that it will transfer "certain" of its Connecticut customers to Spark. Town Square Energy will continue to maintain its Connecticut electric supplier license and will serve its remaining customers.

As of October 31, 2014, a total of over 4,100 Connecticut accounts are to be included in the transfer, of which over 4,000 accounts are residential.

Nearly 1,400 accounts in the book to be transferred are customers on month-to-month variable products, while another 2,200 accounts have rates that expire in November or December 2014.

Town Square Energy said that Spark will honor the price and terms of the acquired contracts through the end of the current contract terms.

All of the affected customers will have the right to opt out of the transfer without any early termination fee or penalty. None of the customers being contemplated in the proposed transfer have any sort of cancellation fee attached to their current plans, Town Square Energy said

The customers will be transferred upon the beginning of the first billing cycle starting thirty days after issuance of a written customer notice is sent. Town Square Energy asked PURA to approve the customer notice letter by November 7.

As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Spark Energy also recently agreed to acquire 14,000 variable rate customers in Connecticut from Discount Power, Inc.
