The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

GridPlus Energy, which says it is the only Texas retail electric provider that accepts cryptocurrencies as payment, has begun listing offers on the Power to Choose site

As previously reported, blockchain-focused GridPlus previously launched a beta, and its business model ultimately envisions (see story here) peer-to-peer sales and a prepay model, though it has not yet filed to offer prepay service using a customer prepayment device or system (CPDS), and has previously said peer-to-peer sales are not in the near term

Currently, GridPlus offers traditional fixed-rate energy plans

"While we are certainly excited about our existing offers, we have already begun working toward more sophisticated options, such as a real-time indexed product. This product will not only be more transparent, unlike many offers presently on PowerToChoose, but will also provide customers the ability to react to real-time pricing, thereby reducing their energy bill," GridPlus said in a blog post

GridPlus further said that it will be transforming its Lattice1 device (a 'hardware wallet' or in-home device currently used for payments) into a home energy control station

GridPlus said that, "in the near future a customer with real-time pricing may configure their Lattice1 to automatically adjust their thermostat whenever prices spike."

GridPlus had previously said that it was exploring integrations with a variety of smart thermostats and smart plugs which control pool pumps to drive this functionality and allow control via Lattice1

GridPlus said that these innovative products are to launch in late 2019 or early 2020

Among GridPlus's offerings on Power to Chose is, in the Oncor service area, a 12-month fixed rate with an average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh, of 9.0 cents per kWh. This reflect an energy price of 5.5¢/kWh and TDU fees of $3.42 per month and 3.135¢/kWh

A $195 early termination fee applies
