Energy Harbor Seeks Ohio Natural Gas Supplier License

Energy Harbor LLC applied for an Ohio natural gas supplier license to serve all customer classes in all service areas

As previously reported, Energy Harbor LLC is the new name for the former FirstEnergy Solutions, which was spun off and separated from FirstEnergy Corp. under a restructuring process.

In Ohio, FirstEnergy Solutions had previously served natural gas customers at Dominion East Ohio, Duke, and Columbia, but ceased service in 2005 after selling its retail gas business to Amerada Hess Energy Trading, and elected to not renew its gas supplier license in Ohio after such sale. FirstEnergy Solutions also ceased supplying natural gas in several other states as a result of such sale.

"Going forward. Energy Harbor’s principal business interest will concern providing CRES [competitive retail electric service] and CRNGS [competitive retail natural gas service] to retail customers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Texas," the company said in its Ohio natural gas supplier application

Energy Harbor is not currently active in several of those states, such as Massachusetts, New York, and Texas

"Energy Harbor intends to expand its retail electric service business to new markets in Texas, Massachusetts, and New York," the company said

The company also said that it intends to offer service to "residential" customers, stating, "Energy Harbor LLC ('Energy Harbor') intends to offer a wide range of services, including natural gas and electric generation supply and related products and services, to residential, commercial and industrial customers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, New Jersey, Texas, Massachusetts, and New York."

Energy Harbor LLC is currently certified or licensed to provide competitive retail electric service in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware

Energy Harbor is not currently certified or licensed to provide retail natural gas service in any jurisdiction.
