Regulator Formally Issues Modified $2 Million NOV Against Retail Supplier, Extends Sought License Suspension Period To 10 Years
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Addressing a previously reported request from its Enforcement Staff, the Connecticut PURA formally issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) against Verde Energy USA Inc. that would impose a $2 million fine on Verde, would require restitution to all customers for service back to October 2020 if such customers paid more than standard service, and which would suspend Verde's electric supplier license, requiring the return of Verde's Connecticut customers to default service
Verde has twenty days to contest the NOV and request a hearing on its allegations
The issued NOV from PURA is substantially similar to an NOV previously sought by PURA Enforcement Staff, with some modifications
Of note, the issued NOV would suspend Verde's supplier license for 10 years, while the Staff draft NOV proposed a five-year suspension
See our prior story here for more details on the NOV and the allegations prompting its issuance
