Company Recommends That Texas Customers Be Allowed To Use A Separate LSE, Other Than The Customer's REP, In ADER Pilot
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Citing, "barriers [which] exist for multifamily properties," seeking to participate in the Aggregate Distributed Energy Resource (ADER) pilot in ERCOT, Nationwide Energy Partners on August 13 renewed a recommendation that ADER participants be permitted to use an alternative LSE, one which is not the customer's retail electric provider, for participation in the ADER pilot
In newly filed comments with the PUCT, Nationwide Energy Partners was echoing comments made by Armada Power in August 2022 at the time of ADER pilot design. Several stakeholders have recently requested that the PUCT review alleged ongoing barriers in the ADER pilot to increase participation
Nationwide Energy Partners recommended not restricting the LSE, which an ADER participant uses for purposes of the pilot, to being the same LSE that the customer uses for generation supply (in choice areas, the customer's REP)
Elimination of the single LSE restriction would prevent situations in which customers must choose between, "a great supply product and participation in the ADER pilot program," Nationwide Energy Partners said
Such LSE flexibility for ADER participants would increase participation in the program, Nationwide Energy Partners said
Nationwide Energy Partners further said that LSE flexibility would decrease potential customer disenrollment in the ADER pilot that may otherwise result from a customer's churn among REPs at the end of a retail generation contract period
