Texas REPs Will Need To Implement Changes To Continue Use Of Smart Meter Texas FTP & API, Due To Upgrades

Per a market notice, Smart Meter Texas will be conducting an upgrade of its security protocols for FTP and API.
This upgrade will require REPs & CSPs to upgrade their FTP and API integration points to continue accessing, downloading and requesting ad hoc data from SMT.
The scope of this upgrade will impact FTP and API functionality only. This upgrade does not affect any SMT Website portal access for any user types including Residential, Business, REPs, CSPs or Regulatory.
SMT will be conducting an upgrade of the following security protocols for the data delivery integration points at SMT:
1. Move from File Transfer Protocol Secure ("FTPS") to SSH File Transfer Protocol ("SFTP") for Retail Electric Provider (REP) and Competitive Service Provider (CSP) LSE file downloads, enrollment reporting downloads, and subscription reporting downloads.
2. Addition of JSON Web Tokens ("JWT") to the APIs for ad hoc reporting data retrieval.
The timeline of activities is the following:
Tuesday May 20, 2025 8:30 A.M. CST [sic] - First Market Technical Q and A Web Conference Session.
Tuesday June 3, 2025 8:30 A.M. CST [sic] - Second Market Technical Q and A Web Conference Session.
Tuesday July 1, 2025 8:30 A.M. CST [sic] - Third Market Technical Q and A Web Conference Session.
Wednesday July 30, 2025 8:30 A.M. CST [sic] - Fourth Market Technical Q and A Web Conference Session.
Thursday August 14, 2025 8:30 A.M. CST [sic] - Fifth Market Technical Q and A Web Conference Session.
Friday August 22, 2025 8:30 A.M. CST [sic] - Final Market Technical Q and A Web Conference Session.
Saturday August 23, 2025 12:01 A.M. CST [sic] until Saturday August 23, 2025 12:20 A.M. CST [sic], there will be an outage of all SMT services.
Saturday August 23, 2025 12:21 A.M. CST [sic] until Saturday September 13th 12:01 A.M. CST [sic] - FTPS and SFTP protocols will be available and running in parallel as well as API without JWT tokens and API with JWT tokens running in parallel. During this time REPs & CSPs will be transitioning to the upgraded SFTP and API with JWT tokens integration for data access and download During this time, SMT will have dedicated support personnel for REPs & CSPs transition assistance during this time period
Saturday September 13th 12:02 A.M. CST [sic] - FTPS and API without JWT tokens decommissioned and no longer available for use. SFTP and API with JWT tokens are now the official interfaces to access and download data from SMT.
An additional Market Notice will be sent prior to each working session, including the Web Conference link.
The market notice from SMT states that, among other things, the upgrade will simplify the FTP integration for REPs & CSPs by no longer requiring SSL Certificates and therefore, eliminating SSL Certificate renewals.
