Texas PUC Approves "Name Change" On Texas REP Certificate For Certificate To Reflect Certificated Name "Texans Choice Power"
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Texas PUC has granted an amendment to the Option 1 Texas REP certificate originally issued to National Gas & Electric Texas, LLC to reflect that the certificate holder is now named Texans Choice Power, LLC
The original amendment application had stated that, "National Gas & Electric Texas, LLC a licensed Retail
Electric Provider (REP) in Texas (Cert. # 10283) changed its legal name to Texans Choice Power, LLC."
In issuing the amendment approval, and ALJ noted that, "National Gas & Electric filed supplemental information and an amended application under confidential seal."
The nature of the amended application was not clear due to being filed under seal.
The originally filed amendment application did not seek to add any trade names to the certificate, and the existing certificate did not have any trade names on the certificate.
As previously reported, in a 10-Q, Via Renewables, Inc. recently disclosed that, on May 23, 2025, Via entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the membership interests in NGE Texas, LLC ('NGE Texas') for a nominal purchase price of $1 and a working capital payment of approximately $1.0 million, consisting entirely of restricted cash in the form of a Letter of Credit and ERCOT collateral.
