Texas Retail Provider Adopts Historic Gulf Brand

Metroplex Energy, Inc. has filed to amend its Option 1 Texas retail electric provider certificate to reflect a change in its legal name to Gulf, Inc
Metroplex and its ultimate parent, RaceTrac, Inc., acquired Gulf Oil LLC and the Gulf brand in 2023
In July 2025, Metroplex Energy began adopting the Gulf branding for its various fuel supply, distribution, & marketing, and other energy business lines
The REP amendment application filed by Metroplex Energy did not indicate that Gulf, Inc is seeking to add any new trade names (such as Gulf, Inc d/b/a Metroplex Energy) as part of the change. The Metroplex Energy REP certificate does not currently have any authorized trade names on the certificate
Metroplex said in a letter to its various customers or trading partners that, "Metroplex has elected to change its name to a new Gulf-inclusive name in order to create consistent branding across all Metroplex business units."
