CenterPoint-TDU Provides To REPs, For REPs To Share With REP Customers Under New Obligation, Info About Tree Trimming

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric has provided, to Texas retail electric providers, information regarding CEHE's procedure(s) for customers who request vegetation management near electric power lines, for REPs to periodically share with customers as required under a new law
Effective September 1, 2025, CEHE is required to periodically provide information to REPs outlining CEHE's procedure(s) for customers’ requesting vegetation management near electric power lines. This requirement was added to the existing provisions in the Texas Utilities Code that govern customer communications related to load shedding and critical care designations.
Specifically, as amended, Section 17.003 of PURA, Subsection (d-1), requires that an electric utility providing electric delivery service for a retail electric provider shall provide to the retail electric provider (and the retail electric provider shall periodically provide to the retail electric provider’s retail customers together with bills sent to the customers) information about, among other things, the procedure for a customer to request vegetation management near a transmission or distribution line.

HB 1606, which became effective Sept. 1, provides that, "A retail electric utility shall periodically provide
with bills sent to retail customers of the utility information
about the procedure for a customer to request vegetation management
near a transmission or distribution line."
