Default Service Procurement Results In Some Capacity Prices Exceeding $800/MW-Day

The Illinois Commerce Commission approved the fall capacity procurement for default service customers at Ameren
Illinois
While the MISO capacity market is seasonal, the capacity procurement allowed both bids specific to one season, as well as an "annual combination", which is a grouping of all four seasonal products in a planning year
The procurement acquired Zonal Resource Credits for the 2026-2027 year and 2027-2028 year
In the procurement, capacity prices reached about $830/MW-Day to $860/MW-Day for certain summer products or the summer portion of an annual combination. However, when averaged with prices in other seasons under the annual combination, average prices are blunted to instead be anywhere from $288 to $340 per MW-Day
