PSC-Initiated Work Group Seeks More Time To File Report On Long-Term Ideas To Help Address PJM Capacity

The Office of the People’s Counsel
for the District of Columbia requested from the D.C. PSC an enlargement of time to file part
two of the PJM Capacity Auction Task Force Recommendation Report, the development of which had been directed by the PSC as part of the PSC's investigation into the impact from the PJM capacity auction
Specifically, OPC requested that the PSC extend
the deadline for filing part two of the PJM Capacity Auction Task Force Report to February 5,
2025.
OPC said that members of the task force, including the Potomac Electric Power Company
(Pepco), the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA),
and the District of Columbia Government (DCG), and PJM Interconnection, LLC, do not oppose
the request.
OPC said that further time, "is needed to discuss long-term ideas to help address the capacity
auction."
"This includes additional discussions with PJM on forecasting, the capacity auction, and
how best to leverage local strategies such as demand response to reduce the impact of the
capacity auction," OPC said
OPC said that the additional time is
necessary to allow for at least two more meetings and adequate time to prepare and draft a joint
report.
