Texas REP Files To Relinquish Certificate; Affiliate To Serve Large Load Under Co-location
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Omega US Holding II, LLC filed at the Texas PUC to voluntarily relinquish its Option 2 Texas retail electric provider certificate
Omega US Holding II, LLC said that it does not and has not served customers in Texas
As previously reported, Omega US Holding II, LLC is part of Serena Energia (f/k/a Omega Energia) which describes itself as Brazil's largest renewable energy company. In Brazil, Serena supplies renewable energy to end-use customers under Brazil's "Free Energy Market", and launched a 100% digital platform to buy and manage energy.
While, under the relinquishment, Omega US Holding II, LLC will no longer have a REP certificate, another Serena Energia company is still seeking to supply an end-use customer through an alternative mechanism
Specifically, FGE Goodnight I, LLC, a wind farm which is ultimately owned by Serena Energia, sought Texas PUC approval for a net metering arrangement under which FGE Goodnight I, LLC's wind unit GOODNIT1 (265.5 MW) would serve the large load customer Crusoe Energy Systems LLC in the retail delivery service territory of Greenbelt Electric Cooperative
Crusoe is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) data center complex which will be co-located with GOODNIT1 behind GOODNIT1’s point of interconnection, and which will share the existing ERCOT Polled Settlement (EPS) meter used for GOODNIT1.
The Crusoe data center will be
developed in two phases -- an initial phase of 180 MW and a second phase of 85 MW
Net metering application: Docket 58881
