Choice Utility Engaged In Dialogue With Stakeholders On Proposed Bill Changes Which Would Inform Default Service Customers That Utility "Makes No Money" From Default Supply, Passes Charges Through To Customers "Dollar-for-Dollar", Seeks Suspension Of Automatic Approval
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
AEP Ohio requested that the PUC of Ohio suspend the automatic approval process for AEP Ohio's proposed new bill format which, among other things, would inform residential Standard Service Offer customers that AEP Ohio is required to buy generation on behalf of SSO customers and that, "AEP Ohio passes these charges through dollar-for-dollar and makes no money from them".
Bill format changes in Ohio are automatically approved after 45 days unless PUCO directs otherwise.
AEP Ohio said, "Since filing the Application, AEP Ohio
has engaged with interested stakeholders concerning potential changes to the
proposed new bill format."
"AEP Ohio wishes to continue its dialogue with those
stakeholders to support a proposed new bill format, possibly through an amended
filing, that addresses the stakeholders’ concerns while still providing a bill that
enhances transparency and helps AEP Ohio’s customers better understand their
electric bills," AEP Ohio said
AEP Ohio said, "AEP Ohio understands that the 45-day clock will restart upon its filing of
an amended application."
As previously reported, in addition to the "makes no money" language cited above, AEP Ohio has also proposed to slightly revise the language for residential SSO customer bills concerning the competitive retail rate that the customers must receive in order to save money by shopping. The revised bill also does not use the term "Price to Compare" to introduce this notice, as done currently
