CenterPoint-TDU To Resume Customer Refunds Issued Via Retail Electric Providers
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC filed at the Texas PUC to resume a refund credit to customers, issued through retail electric providers, related to a prior rate case
CEHE had been providing the refunds via the Rate Reduction Credit Rider, applicable to REPs, which was effective only for August 1, 2025 through September 30, 2025.
Due to milder weather (since the credit is paid per kWh or per kVA), the Rate Reduction Credit Rider under-refunded customers during the period in which the rider was applicable
CEHE thus proposes to resume the Rate Reduction Credit Rider, using the same per kWh/kVA credit amounts as used previously when the rider was in place
CEHE "anticipates" that the refund will resume on December 15, 2025.
The proposed credits under the resumed Rider RRC - Rate Reduction Credit are:
CEHE's filed tariff for the revised Rider RRC is proposed to be effective 12/15/2025
The Rate Reduction Credit would remain in effect until the aggregate remaining refund amount of $406,031.96 has been refunded. After the aggregate amount of $406,031.96 has been refunded, the Rate Reduction Credit shall terminate.
