Nstar East Small C&I Default Service Rate To Decrease 5%

NSTAR d/b/a Eversource Energy filed with the Massachusetts DPU new basic service electricity rates for its Eastern Massachusetts service territory, for the period beginning February 1, 2026
All prices below include the currently effective Basic Service Adders, Renewable Portfolio Standard, Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard, Clean Energy Standard Adders, and Clean Peak Standard Adders. Nstar has a pending filing to update the Basic Service Cost Adjustment adder, which typically is approved prior to February 1.
The filed new Nstar East fixed residential basic service rate for the period February 1, 2026 through July 31, 2026, using currently effective adders, is 15.065¢/kWh, which is marginally higher than the current rate of 14.884¢/kWh
As of publication time, 7 separate retail suppliers were offering fixed rates, of at least 12 months in length, at or below 14 cents per kWh on the state's EnergySwitchMA website, not including an additional retail supplier offering a 10-month fixed rate of 13.170¢/kWh (the Boston muni aggregation currently has a default rate of about 14.8 cents per kWh, with the rate decreasing to 14.2 cents per kWh for December 2025 through November 2027)
The filed new Nstar East fixed small C&I basic service rate for the period February 1, 2026 through July 31, 2026, using currently effective adders, is 14.466¢/kWh, which is about 5% lower than the current rate of 15.150¢/kWh
