ERCOT Reports Changes In Calculation Of Market Participant Credit Requirements Due To RTC+B Go-Live

ERCOT in a market notice provided details related to market participant credit requirement calculations as a result of the go-live of Real-Time Co-optimization Plus Batteries
On December 5, 2025, Real-Time Co-optimization Plus Batteries (RTC+B) project changes related to credit provisions of Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 1013, RTC - NP 1, 2, 16, and 25: Overview, Definitions and Acronyms, Registration and Qualification of Market Participants, and Market Suspension and Restart, will be implemented.
Among other things, the following calculation changes will begin on December 6, 2025:
• The Minimum Current Exposure (MCE) component of Total Potential Exposure (TPE) calculation (ERCOT Protocol Section 16.11.4.1, Determination of Total Potential Exposure for a Counter-Party) will be updated to include Real-Time Co-optimization (RTC) Ancillary Service virtual offers activity to capture price risk between Day -Ahead Market (DAM) Market Clearing Price for Capacity (MCPC) and Real-Time Market (RTM) Market Clearing Price for Capacity (MCPC).
• The Unbilled Day-Ahead Amounts (UDAA) component of the EAL calculation (ERCOT Protocol Section 16.11.4.3.1, Day-Ahead Liability Estimate) will be updated to include RTC Ancillary Service virtual offers activity.
-- Currently: Ancillary Service activity is captured in Ancillary Services payments and charges
-- With RTC: Ancillary Service virtual offers are captured in Ancillary Services payments and charges
• The Real-Time Liability Completed and Not Settled (RTLCNS) and Real-Time Liability Forward (RTLF) components of the EAL calculation (ERCOT Protocols Section 16.11.4.3.2, Real-Time Liability Estimate) will be updated to include RTC Ancillary Services activity to capture Ancillary Service payments and charges in RTLCNS and capture Ancillary Services payments and charges in RTLF (150% of Ancillary Services payments and charges).
ERCOT advised market participants to monitor their Credit Monitoring and Management Reports and manage collateral accordingly
