Energy Markets Vet Departs NRG Board To Pursue Another Opportunity

NRG Energy reported the following in an 8-K: "On January 2, 2026, Kevin T. Howell informed the Board of Directors (the 'Board') of NRG Energy, Inc. (the 'Company') of his intention to resign from the Board, effective immediately, to pursue another opportunity. His decision to resign was not the result of any disagreement with the Company, management, or the Board on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices."

Howell had joined the NRG board in 2023.

Howell previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Dynegy Inc. during its restructuring from 2011 to 2013

From 2005 to 2010, Howell served in various capacities at NRG, including as Regional President, NRG Texas, where he was responsible for managing NRG’s Texas operations. Prior to this, Howell served as NRG’s Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations

Howell previously served as President of Dominion Energy Clearinghouse from 2001 to 2005. From 1995 to 2001, Howell held various positions within the Duke Energy portfolio, including Senior Vice President of Duke Energy Trading and Marketing
