Maryland Utility's Residential SOS Supply Rate To Increase 10% This Summer

Potomac Edison residential electric customers taking SOS (which given changes in the retail market is expected to be nearly all if not all residential customers) will see a 10% increase in the supply rate component of SOS on June 1, 2026
Specifically, the Potomac Edison Electric Supply Charge for Schedule R residential customers will be 10.824 cents per kWh for the period June 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026, which is over 10% higher than the current charge of 9.806 cents per kWh
The Electric Supply Charge is not the full SOS rate, and the Electric Supply Charge does not include bypassable transmission or reconciliation
PE also filed its Schedule R residential Electric Supply Charge for the period October 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027, which is 10.209 cents per kWh
Comparing like seasons, the summer 2026 Electric Supply Charge will still be 10% higher than the summer 2025 Electric Supply Charge, while the winter 2026-27 Electric Supply Charge will be 4% higher than the winter 2025-26 Electric Supply Charge
The Electric Supply Charges for the period after May 31, 2026 remain subject to PSC approval
