Pennsylvania Utility Files Interim Mass Market Default Service Rate Increase Of 1.7¢/kWh (15%)

Citizens' Electric Company of Lewisburg, PA has filed for an interim adjustment to its GSSR-1 (mass market) generation supply service rate
Under the interim adjustment, proposed to be effective February 1, 2026, Citizens' GSSR-1 rate would increase by 1.694 cents per kWh, or 15%, to 13.200 cents per kWh, from the current 11.506 cents per kWh
The rate change reflects an update to Citizens' Transmission Peak Load Obligation and Transmission Daily Rate, Citizens' stated
Generally, the GSSR-1 rate is established as fixed for six months, though interim adjustments are not uncommon. The current GSSR-1 rate of 11.506 cents per kWh had taken effect on Dec. 1, 2025
The interim adjustment remains subject to Pa. PUC approval
