ERCOT Investigating Incorrect Projected Non-Binding Prices, Base Points and Awards (Exceed VOLL)
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
ERCOT said in a market notice on Jan. 23 that ERCOT identified an error affecting projected, non-binding Real-Time prices, Base Points, and Ancillary Service awards for some Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) intervals.
"For example, SCED is not capping the non-binding prices, exclusive of congestion, at the effective Value of Lost Load (VOLL)," ERCOT said in the notice
"This issue does not affect binding SCED results. All binding Real-Time Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs), Market Clearing Prices for Capacity (MCPCs), Base Points, and Ancillary Service awards remain accurate. The error affects only the 60-minute forward projections posted on the ERCOT website and published in MIS reports," ERCOT said in the notice
"ERCOT is investigating the root cause and will communicate the solution and implementation timeline after confirming both," ERCOT said in the notice
