Utility Seeks To Update Tariff In Advance Of Major Change In Default Service Mechanism
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Duke Energy Ohio has filed what it termed minor tariff revisions as a result of the previously reported transition to an SSO auction for default service effective April 1, 2026, transitioning away from the current GCR mechanism
Duke stated, "In advance of the first auction, the Company identified minor tariff revisions that are
required to reflect the applicability of certain existing riders to the Company’s Interruptible Sales
Service tariff (Rate IS), which was not in effect at the time the Company filed its April 27, 2022
Application in Case No. 21-0903-GA-EXM. The proposed amendments will ensure that customers
that take future service on Rate IS are charged appropriately after Duke Energy Ohio’s SSO
auction service begins on April 1, 2026."
Specifically, Duke Energy Ohio proposes to revise Sheet No. 38 (Rate IS – Interruptible
Sales Service) to reflect the applicability of the following riders to Rate IS:
• Sheet No. 73 – Rider SSOR – Standard Service Offer Rate;
• Sheet No. 74 – Rider SSOCR – Standard Service Offer Cost Reconciliation Rider;
• Sheet No. 77 – Rider ATC – Auction Transition Cost Rider; and
• Sheet No. 78 – Rider SBC – Storage Balancing Charge.
Duke also proposes corresponding updates to the following tariff sheets to reflect their
applicability to Rate IS:
• Sheet No. 43 – Rate SSOS – Standard Service Offer Service;
• Sheet No. 73 – Rider SSOR – Standard Service Offer Rate;
• Sheet No. 74 – Rider SSOCR – Standard Service Offer Cost Reconciliation Rider;
• Sheet No. 77 – Rider ATC – Auction Transition Cost Rider; and
• Sheet No. 78 – Rider SBC – Storage Balancing Charge.
