Start-up Texas Broker Launches "EFL Inspector"
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Clear Energy Facts, a recently formed Texas broker, has launched a Texas retail electricity shopping tool called EFL Inspector
"[T]he Texas market is currently saturated with 'gimmick' plans. Even Power to Choose has become full with short-term offers and complex tiered structures that confuse the average user. Furthermore, standard Google or AI searches often just surface the cheapest 'as low as' rates rather than finding a safe, 'True Fixed' plan. We built the EFL Inspector as a consumer-facing audit engine to solve this. It instantly reads the Electricity Facts Label (EFL), audits the fine print, and compares it against the cheapest valid offers in the market to quantify exactly how much the customer could save," Clear Energy Facts said
"We parse every Electricity Facts Label using AI to extract accurate pricing -- no hidden fees or tricks," Clear Energy Facts says
"With your consent, we securely analyze your smart meter data to simulate how over 300 plans from 50+ providers would affect your monthly bills. You’ll see your projected charges -- before signing up," Clear Energy Facts says
To use the EFL Inspector, users take a screenshot or upload the PDF of any plan (whether it's from Power to Choose, a broker, or a provider's website). The EFL Inspector then scans and analyzes the document, producing a savings estimate for the customer
Clear Energy Facts said that the capabilities and features of the EFL Inspector include:
• "Validates 'True Fixed' Status: It automatically categorizes plans as 'True Fixed,' 'Bill Credit Gimmick,' or 'Time-of-Use' based on the actual math and structure of the EFL, not just the marketing label."
• "Calculates Real-World Variance: It compares the user's plan directly to the best available rate in their specific area and term length, providing an instant estimation of annual savings."
• "Zero Barrier to Entry: The tool is completely free and requires no hassle. Users do not need to email us their bill or wait for a human to review it. The results are generated seconds after the upload."
Clear Energy Facts said that the EFL Inspector also provides a "Fairness Check", which evaluates the rate against the current market -- "It tells you immediately if the price is fair or if you are being overcharged."
Clear Energy Facts said that the EFL Inspector provides apples-to-apples comparisons for Free Nights, Free Weekends, and Bill Credit plans
Screenshots show that the EFL Inspector provides feedback to users such as "Warning: Unstable Rate" (such as for a usage-based credit plan) and "You can do better", for plans higher than comparable available offers
Clear Energy Facts says that it is not affiliated with any provider and includes over 90% of plans available in a customer's area
Clear Energy Facts is a trade name of My AI Dock LLC which, as previously reported, registered as a Texas electric broker last June
Rafael Morales, Founder & CEO of Clear Energy Facts, provides as follows on an About Us page: "Electronic engineer, working on my master’s in CS at Texas A&M. I moved from Venezuela in 2013 and spent years in Gulf of Mexico oil and gas. When I moved to Houston in 2022, I signed up for a usage credit plan in our deregulated market. I thought staying between 1,000 and 2,000 kWh would be easy, but it was not. The real issue was that I did not have all the facts, and I did not realize how hard it is to keep usage within a set band in a seasonal state like Texas. After that I decided to change it. That is why I started Clear Energy Facts."
