Retail Supplier Returning Certain Customers To Default Service
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
New Wave Energy, LLC has returned its assistance program participant (APP) customers in New York to default service
Generally, APP customers in New York (those on utility-administered low-income bill
discount programs) may not be served by ESCOs. New Wave Energy, LLC had been serving the APP customers under a waiver under which New Wave Energy, LLC guaranteed that an APP customer would not pay more than default service
New Wave Energy, LLC's current waiver to provide service to APP customers had been granted through approximately May 2026
New Wave Energy, LLC stated in a PSC filing that, "After careful consideration of our business operations and strategic priorities, New Wave has determined that it is in the best interest of both the Company and the low-income customer segment to voluntarily surrender this waiver, effective immediately upon the Commission's acceptance of this request."
As previously reported, New Wave Energy, LLC was acquired by NextEra last year
