Texas PUC Launches New Consumer Help Hub Website
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
During today's Texas PUC open meeting, Rich Parsons, the PUCT's Director of Communications, reported that the PUC has implemented a redesign of its website targeting consumers.
Parsons reported that the redesign centralizes, into the "consumer help hub", various consumer resources which had previously been on different pages
The goal is to make the information easier to find, easier to navigate, and easier to understand for consumers, Parsons said
The consumer help hub is prominently featured on the PUC's homepage
In designing the new site, various PUC offices were asked to provide the most frequently asked questions received from consumers. The redesign places such questions on the new site with the questions answered in plain language
Among the questions / topics on the new consumer page for electricity are:
• I need help choosing a retail electricity plan.
• I need help paying my bill.
• Why is my bill so high? I don't understand the charges on my bill.
• I have a complaint about my electricity service. How can I file a complaint?
For the response to the topic "I need help choosing a retail electricity plan", visitors are taken to a page stating, "If you live within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Region and aren't served by an electric cooperative or a municipally‐owned utility, you have the power to choose your electric provider. Power to Choose is a PUCT website that helps you select the provider and plan that is best for you. It allows you to comparison shop between different plans and rates offered by retail electric providers in Texas," with the page then providing a link to Power to Choose
Since a soft roll-out on Tuesday, the consumer site has had more than 2,600 visits
