Solar Developer Creates New Retail Supplier, Home Battery Storage Play In PJM

RealX Ventures, Inc. is among the owners of a new retail electric supplier, Grid Guard Power, LLC, which will go to market with a home battery storage offering
RealX provides various solar origination and development services
Grid Guard will operate as a competitive retail electric supplier and plans to install, own, and operate small, behind-the-meter residential battery storage systems at the end user’s location, each with approximately 12 kW of power capacity and between 25 kWh and 50 kWh of discharge capacity per cycle.
"These battery systems will provide backup power to homeowners during outages, provide optimized power purchasing times to lower overall electricity costs, and allow the batteries to provided ancillary services to the grid when applicable," Grid Guard said
Grid Guard intends to commence operations in Pennsylvania and expand into other retail electric choice markets over time.
RealX Ventures, Inc. will be the majority shareholder of Grid Guard, while various private individuals and venture capital investors will also have ownership stakes
The executive team of Grid Guard includes Luke Glass (Chief Executive Officer), Justin Byers (Chief Operating Officer), and Dan Korhnak (Chief Technology Officer), all of whom hold similar leadership positions at RealX Ventures
Prior to co-founding RealX, Glass served as an EVP as Realtor.com
