The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Octarine Analytics, LLC, a start-up, applied for Ohio electric and natural gas broker/aggregator licenses to serve all customer classes in all service areas
Octarine Analytics, LLC is owned by Ryan Schuessler, an engineer who previously held positions at Go Sustainable Energy, which holds Ohio broker licenses for electricity and gas, and its subsidiary RunnerStone, LLC. Schuessler has ten years of experience in energy systems engineering, utility regulation,
and quantitative analysis
Octarine Analytics, LLC said that it provides technical analysis, regulatory support, and data science
services to commercial and industrial energy consumers and advocacy organizations. Typical services
include energy auditing, measurement and verification of energy savings, utility rate and tariff analysis,
distributed energy resource analysis, regulatory and policy advising, and large-scale analysis of utility
interval and billing data, the company said
Octarine Analytics stated that the company is seeking broker/aggregator registration, "to obtain access to utility customer data for
research and analytical purposes as well as to support innovative or emergent market services," and said that it would, "advise on matters of procurement and aggregation."
Octarine Analytics said that electric services would include:
• Coincident peak load management and demand response strategy;
• Load profiling and interval data analysis;
• On-site generation analysis, including contribution to PJM capacity and transmission peak
determinants;
• Aggregating above load profiles to determine portfolio potential for DR programs;
• Utility rate and tariff optimization; and
• Regulatory and policy advising
With respect to natural gas, Octarine Analytics stated, "Octarine Analytics anticipates working directly with residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal
clients to evaluate natural gas management strategies, including combined heat and power feasibility
studies, economics of energy efficiency program measures, economic evaluation of electrification, and
evaluation of risk and opportunities for risk mitigation."
Octarine Analytics said that it operates on a fee-for-service basis and is compensated directly by the client rather
than by a supplier, "and focuses on advisory analysis in place of commodity supply or wholesale market
participation."
"Clients procure energy services through open solicitation or at their own discretion," Octarine Analytics said
