In Japan, Lexus Launches "Power Agent", Connecting EVs & Homes As One Unit For Energy Management, Includes Recommended Retail Plan, Home Solar Installation
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
In Japan, Lexus has launched a holistic home and EV energy management service called Power Agent
Per a translation, one specific Power Agent service, namely automatically setting the optimal charging and discharging schedule for the customer's EV, will require a specific retail electric plan recommended by Lexus
Power Agent users are not required to sign up for a specific retail electric plan, and other services of Power Agent (such as usage prediction without automatic setting of the charging and discharging schedule) are available without singing up for the recommended retail plan
"With LEXUS POWER AGENT, it predicts your car's usage, your home's electricity consumption up to three days in advance, and the amount of electricity generated by solar power, and automatically sets the optimal charging and discharging schedule," a translation states
The program is designed to minimize electricity supply purchases from the grid through the use of home solar generation and vehicle-to-home (V2H) use
The program offers, through a "loan" (translated term), home solar panels, and includes related power units to facilitate the use of home solar and V2H, as well as data exchange
Lexus touts the offerings as available under a single one-stop shop, with Lexus handling setup and support
The offering is limited to Lexus vehicles, and does not include Toyota BEVs
