The New Jersey natural gas utilities have filed proposed annual updates to the basic gas supply service rate applicable to residential and other small customers

Public Service Electric and Gas Company is requesting to maintain the current BGSS-RSG Commodity Charge of $0.363440 per therm (including losses and SUT) for the new period of October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027

Per a prior order applicable to all LDCs, PSE&G would have authority to self-implement increases in the BGSS RSG Commodity Charge during the October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027 period on December 1, 2026, and on February 1, 2027, subject to a 5% cap for each self-implemented increase.

PSE&G reported that its computation of the BGSS Commodity Charge for RSG shows that a rate of $0.368281 per therm (including losses and SUT) would be required to reduce the projected under-collection of $5.8M (excluding losses and SUT) to zero by September 30, 2027, based on May 7th NYMEX prices

"However ... the Company is requesting to forgo the rate increase ... and maintain the current BGSS rate of $0.363440 per therm (including losses and SUT) given the minimal projected under-recovery," PSE&G said

New Jersey Natural Gas Company proposes to decrease its periodic BGSS rate for sales customers from its current after-tax level of $0.4567 per therm ($0.4283 per therm pre-tax) to $0.4017 per therm ($0.3767 per therm pre-tax), effective October 1, 2026.

South Jersey Gas Company seeks to decrease the Periodic BGSS rate from $0.587455 per therm to $0.568586 per therm, inclusive of applicable taxes, for the period beginning October 1, 2026 and ending September 30, 2027.

Elizabethtown Gas Company seeks to decrease the BGSS-P rate from $0.6962 per therm to $0.5775 per therm, inclusive of applicable taxes, for the period beginning October 1, 2026 and ending September 30, 2027.
