During a Delaware PSC public meeting, PSC Commissioner Michael Richard suggested that the PSC hold a public briefing on the current state of retail electric choice in the state

Four of the five Commissioners on the PSC recently joined the Commission, and the public briefing would help commissioners get up to speed on current issues in the market

Both in regards to a retail choice item on yesterday's agenda, as well as other agenda items, several Commissioners expressed frustration that the issues under consideration were not adequately briefed in preparation for consideration, given Commissioners' newness to the PSC

PSC Chair Harold Gray said that Richard's suggestion for a public electric choice briefing was a good idea

Richard's recommendation came as the Commission took public comment on proposed retail electric rule changes, including advance notice for variable rate changes and new requirements for marketing

No public comments were offered at yesterday's hearing beyond the previously reported written submissions

At the close of public comment, Commissioners did not substantively address specific rule provisions, and will further consider potential changes and/or adoption at the PSC's August 5 session

Generally, Commissioner Anthony DePrima did make note of the concerns about retail supplier pricing which led to the rulemaking, and expressed frustration that the rulemaking has been ongoing for about one and a half years
