PSC Schedules Workgroup Meeting On Potential Changes To Default Service Procurement, Product, & Rate Design; Adder

The District of Columbia PSC scheduled for August 18, 2026 a working group to discuss various design elements of electricity standard offer service (SOS), including procurement timing and product type, rate design, and the bypassable SOS adder
The PSC in May 2026 had previously directed a working group to discuss the adder and other issues raised concerning SOS (see ECM's story for details)
Since that time, the PSC also held in June an "emergency" meeting on generation (SOS) costs and ways to mitigate such costs (details here)
The working group agenda issued by the PSC includes a wide range of broad SOS design and policy issues, in addition to the adder
Among other things, the work group will consider the "SOS Procurement Process" generally, including specific products and potential separation of products from full requirements service; the timing of procurements; and the duration of SOS procurements
