The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

In an EDI implementation report, Consolidated Edison reported to the New York PSC the addition of a new optional purpose code 05 to denote rebills from original bills in two EDI Implementation Guidelines: the BIG08 segment in the 810 Invoice Utility Rate Ready transaction, and the BPT01 segment in the 867 Monthly Usage transaction.

The changes were presented during the EDI Working Group on March 13, 2026 and June 17, 2026. ConEd stated that no objection was raised to the proposed changes.

ConEdison stated that the changes are optional for utilities, other than Consolidated Edison, to implement

The proposed implementation is recommended to be completed by January 2027. Testing will be conducted between late October 2026 through December 2026.

ConEd stated, "This timeframe is necessary because Con Edison intends on implementing this change in advance of a project’s (Retail Access Modernization) deployment."
