Otovo Launches In US With $4+ Million Funding, Will Offer Branded Retail Electric Plans In Texas In Addition To Home Energy Bundles

Otovo USA formally announced its launch of a home power offering that, "brings together three essential energy services – retail, service, and trading – into one integrated solution for homeowners."
The forthcoming launch of the Otovo brand in the U.S., and the inclusion of retail energy supply in its offerings, had been first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com in July. Otovo is a European platform for home solar and battery installation which also assists customers in selling electricity back to the grid
Otovo USA said that it raised more than $4 million in initial funding, led by EIC Rose Rock.
Otovo USA’s service offering is now available in the Texas market, and the company said that it will soon expand across America. Otovo’s services will incorporate solar systems, batteries, standby generators, EV chargers, load managers, and other power generation and management systems.
Otovo USA will, as a broker, offer Otovo-branded retail electricity plans, with a focus on solar buyback plans
Currently, Otovo USA’s brokering includes plans from Texas REP Light Energy LLC, with the product name branded as "Otovo Solar Buyback Plan" or "Otovo Solar Buyback Match Plan".
In the Oncor service area, the Otovo Solar Buyback Plan, with retail electric service provided by Light Energy LLC, has an average all-in rate at 1,000 kWh usage of 11.5¢ per kWh, reflecting a base charge of $9.95 per month, an Energy Rate of 7.82¢ per kWh, a Buyback Rate of 5.00¢ per kWh, and Oncor delivery charges of 5.12480¢ per kWh and $4.23 per month. The product is a 12-month, fixed rate, 100% renewable plan. A $150 early termination fee applies to the brokered retail electric plan.

Otovo USA’s website states, "We're targeting 3.9M+ single-family, credit-qualified homes in deregulated Texas, with a sharp focus on the 460K+ homeowners who have already invested in solar (115K) and backup power systems (346K)."

As previously reported, Berger previously founded and had served as CEO at Sunnova Energy International Inc.

Otovo USA offers various service and maintenance plans for solar and battery systems, with costs ranging from $9 to $49 per month, which include monitoring, free remote reboots and troubleshooting, and 10% off any repair costs. Plans also include performance reports, and, at higher levels, advanced analytics and faster service (faster than the standard 48 hour response time)
Otovo USA also offers, for an additional cost (an additional $5-20/month added to the $9 to $49 plans for solar + batteries)), service bundles that include generator maintenance plans including oil changes, filter service, and battery checks.
An FAQ on Otovo USA's website also makes reference to bill credits, stating, "Bill credits vary based on your battery capacity, location, and market conditions. Many customers earn enough to significantly offset or even cover their monthly subscription cost. Actual earnings depend on plan selection and energy market dynamics."
